Why doesn't my c chord sound right on my guitar?

aren't freting chord problem. accidentally muting strings , chord isn't sounding. try positioning fingers behind fretwire , press down enough force sound notes , no more. other possible explination have frets 'dead' , if case, take guitar tech , repair fee.

i'm trying learn song requires c chord, songs do, , reason when play can hear whiny high e chord. know guitar in tune, tuned it, why happening?
