Fingers hurting after playing guitar?

started playing guitar yesterday.it hurt after read online said you'll calluses...but thats bit gross , itll take long time heal :( , asked friend said takes while fingers harden , used guitar strings.so today day after yesterday , played guitar again.my fingers hurt , felt sore.isnt there alt way not calluses while getting used playing guitar...

have part time weekend job , in second year @ university. make £500 month. according pension funds, if pay 10% (£50) month, company double , money government means pay less £50. there different types of funds available, easiest being 'target fund' investment company moves money based on age. there index trackers , other equities/funds. can advise better long time investment.
