yes takes work , cost more money. first there 2 types of banks in spain: international , local banks. international banks include such names hsbc, barclays, duetsche, , citibank etc. these banks can open local account using foreign account them reference. if choose local bank need stuff. need called nie (número de identificación de extranjeros). tax number , while may not have pay taxes locally result in paying higher fees in bank (monthly charges, wire transfers, exchange rate charges etc.) these fees can quite high visitor.

answer question, yes possible practical – call. staying 2 months highly unlikely need bank account. if concerned keeping money (and not have debit card @ home or credit card) cash card. prepaid credit card , work rentals, food etc. fees , costs cost account time limited, know not asked.

so i'm going barcelona 2months in summer, staying in hostel, wondering possible open spanish bank account, i'm not studying or working, i'm staying while learn spanish , see such nice city.
