Why is the lion called the king of the jungle, when it dosent live in the jungle?

agree you. jaguars or vicious tigers more deserving of title of "jungle king." reason think people lions kings of jungle because "the jungle" metaphor kingdom animals live.

lions live in open plains,grasslands , savannah's , general avoid dense jungles/tropical forest. why called king of jungle when don't live there? think make more sense if called jaguar or tiger king of jungle, since live in jungle.
