Do you feel the ruling to AX the long putters beginning 2016 was correct ?
makes more sense pertains pga tour (which, coincidentally, have no real influence over) rest of us. though ones using belly/long putters aren't great, statistically speaking. did put 4 days 3 out of 4 major weeks past season, considered anomoly.
there's issue of people wanting "purists", have give ability anchor putter body... if helps them putt better , enjoy game aren't earning paycheck more. , "purity" of game: rules allow cor or .83, it's still in there no club can have springlike effect. rule followed?
part kills me usga cowered when oems sent in army of lawyers fight cor rule (which settled @ arbitrarily-devised number of .83), let ball out of control, yet walk tall against wedges , style of putting. makes no sense me. national golf foundation did survey in '09 showed golfers hit ball, on average, 235y. couple years later, former usga technical director (and founder of frankly golf) frank thomas' own survey showed people thought drove 235y, 198y on average. either way, that's near tour pro levels, effect did lawsuit-driven ruling have? go after scoring clubs (oems aren't allowed make non-"competition" grooves anymore) , anchored putting dumb. that's area 99% of use help, they're forcing people make choice.
think of way: play flag football, rec-league softball , backyard basketball lowered rim (i admit: slam dunk "contests" more fun me when rim's @ ~8'). we're still technically playing football, softball/baseball , basketball, they're different forms of original sets of rules dictate. we're ok because know we're not peyton manning, ryan braun, or dwight howard. people feel, whatever reasons, golf should played rules t, or it's bastardization of game. we're close being rory, tiger , freddie. these newer rules seem forcing segments of golfing population make choice: keep "spin milled" type grooves , anchored putter , enjoy game, or remain "purist" following rules staunch dedication. why need way? bifurcation, or split of rules (those pros, , others us) buzzword keeps gaining steam... maybe we're headed way. maybe pga tours should adopt own rules , leave of usga/r&a (which laxed).
comments welcome. thank you
