current environmental focus on controlling nonpoint pollution protect our surface water has led discussion of management of riparian areas. environmental protection agency states agriculture has greater impact on stream , river contamination other nonpoint source. grazing, particularly improper grazing of riparian areas can contribute nonpoint source pollution. negative impacts downstream include contamination of drinking water supplies (55% of ohios drinking water comes surface water (brown, 1994)), eutrophication of lake erie (richards et al., 2002), , hypoxia in gulf of mexico (rabalais et al., 2001)...!!
