What materials can I make wings (bird/angel) out of?

impression want them let light through. okay. how time , money willing put this. yes paper choice. can shape paper if moisten tiny bit. can dye or paint later. can collage moist tissue paper onto heavier paper modify appearance--a little elmer's diluted little water it, apply glue , tissue soft acrylic brush.
or overlay paper sheer nylon fabric fabric store or craft store.
or go dollar store , silk flowers , dissect petals , use them feathers. depends on how large want feathers.
fall leaves added mix, if right shape, might crispy crunchy long.
-- if have printer , budget translucent parchment, , money ink, create feathers using graphics program, color them way want to, print them size, cut them out , use those. work? we're in different clubs...
or combination of of above, keep same style , make of feathers in appropriate zone on wing.
how slices of cucumber? or polymer clay alot of translucent base.

going doing these wings? mounting them on wall? wearing them?
costume? weight , breakability taken consideration.

using travel catalogue or fashion magazine photos? you'd have kinda picky though, , find enough images of color, , how what's on opposite side affects side seen.....

something isn't feathers... i've seen them done stiff felt, great idea, wondering if there way... thought foam sheets i'd want feathers let light through them. ideas!
