Typically, how long will it take to train specifically for a half marathon?


have been running year , run 15-20 miles week. longest runs 5-7 miles usually. i've done 5k races not done 10k races of half. want half 3 months now(12 weeks). goal finish without pain/discomfort.
also, dead of winter here in ny, i'm worried snow/ice days might ruin training.

should sign-up one? tips on training?
