Can you cut a a cake into 8 pieces with 3 cuts?

there 2 ways:

1- cut in 4 (using 2 cuts) , cut horizontally @ mid point, having 4 bottom parts , 4 top parts (which unfair parts have icing , not)

2- cut in 4 (as above, 2 cuts) , rearrange pieces lined or stacked, 1 cut split 4 pieces in 2. approach preserve icing allotment. (note nothing in problem statement forbade rearranging pieces between cuts...)

important :

cut 12 o clock 6 o' clock, cut 9 o clock 3 o clock , cut halfway down depth of cake. make 8 slices
