What helps really bad cramps?

menstrual cramps caused chemicals called prostaglandins, , ibuprofen (motrin, etc.) anti-prostaglandin. prevents contractions occurring - if start taking 2 days before period gets in system.

don't take aspirin @ same time; 2 medications cancel each other out (said doctor).

if doesn't work next month, please see gynecologist. there other things can do,

longer explanation cramps:

"prostaglandins kind of hormone increases normal squeezing or contraction of muscle in wall of uterus. prostaglandins made in muscle , lining of uterus in response increased pressure inside uterus. uterus pressure increased high levels during period, in women haven’t had baby. prostaglandins increased when hormones out of balance. imbalance occurs when estrogen levels increase , progesterone levels low estrogen levels."

once gynecologist told me ibuprofen - , started taking 2 days in advance - barely felt periods. key getting in system early.
