investing directly in american airlines not possible @ present time since not public company in it's own right. important note amr corporation parent company of american airlines, , formed in 1982 in order assist american airlines' reorganisation @ time. however, of late last year, amr corporation filed bankruptcy itself. trade amr corporation in "over counter" (otc) markets, depending on risk tolerance (you may want learn more corporate bankruptcy prior investing in amr corporation too). i've included few links below out.
