Walking across USA, is it possible?

it's been dream of mine travel across usa, wasn't until friend suggested, why don't walk it?

logistically, possible? bought huge map of usa , realised it's possible walk nyc la, can this?

i'd walking, nothing else. americans let me this? need special visa? thinking doing cancer research uk (i know several people have been affected cancer).

so, possible walk nyc la. time not issue, way. i'd trip long possible, i'd experience america, instead of visiting disneyland or times square , thinking that's real america.
