Cheapest part of California?
(aka safe) , cheap don't exist.
want cheap? find areas away major cities. barstow, victorville, chico, merced, etc.
of course, places don't have jobs...
people ask question unprepared, unrealistic, no money, no experience, no skills, , no plan.
if outside us, canada, need work visa live here (unless independently wealthy). either have have sponsor, or win green card lottery. both situations rare.
need plan: first item on agenda rent. decent 1br apartment in la goes $1200, give or take. nicer areas , areas closer beach higher. don't expect move santa monica , apartment on beach much. or toluca lake, or beverly hills. unlike many metro areas, la unique in extends 100 miles in every direction. there no open spaces between towns. price tends stay high until 70-100 miles los angeles.
next, need car. los angeles spread out, , train service extremely limited. if don't have car, have take bus, takes 3 times longer anywhere car.
told, takes $3,000 per month live here. if don't have job pays or skills can kind of job, stay are. if unskilled , work minimum wage (or tips bartending or waiting tables), you'll make $1200 per month.
, speaking of jobs, rather hard come now. college grads seeking employment having tough time of right now, since job market flooded experienced people laid off. unemployment on 12% right now. not kind of job market want move into.
finally, need money. landlords want first month's rent , security deposit front. you'll need money food, transportation, utilities, etc. consensus in forum need $10,000 start out.

i'm young , doing classes @ community collge, plan on moving out soon. have ideas, want see options out there. want move somewhere cheap rent. (but im not looking bad neighborhoods) city, cheap rent.
