use of few, wisely chosen words
in descriptive phrasing
gives reader sense of being there.
subtle suggestion of melancholy,
layered beneath festivities, during christmas,
nicely voiced, cw

steve trying hard not lose
father @ checkers.
stephanie has fled
room, safe among quilts
, white wicker.
stare @ board , wish myself.

mother in kitchen baking
christmas pies.
can hear softly singing.
