Should Americans be taught European history?

i'm british , know little of these matters, but, i'm interested know, american kids taught european history? after our ancestors yours :) see english , british history yours? if you're not taught it, should taught in schools? or 300 years of admittedly rich history enough?
tbh i'd it, mean saw have more in common.
no disrespect, think ommited because of nationalism?
