How did you learn how to draw faces correctly?

have been trying forever this, , still find challenging. cannot draw faces correctly, though try to. sure, can draw small people simple faces , simple hair; however, portraits extremely hard do. need figure out, because have project due next week. started on it, trashed first outline. how did learn it? i've tried drawing own, reading drawing on right side of brain (the book bored me), , copying others. none of has worked far.
