On my hard drive, there is C and D drive, can someone explain why there is 2 separate drives?

hi here have classic thing hard drive set can partition 1 physical drive many drives makes whole system respond faster.
can have old methods 1 eide drives 2 hard drives used master , slave can partitioned in 2 or more drives.
, have older scsi drive system 63 drives yes 63 separate drives used in server case , drives physically of 10 g/bits each way when scsi 3 thing array of drives.
day have sata has no limits either have want.
sad cost money.

also, can store files on both drives have been looking through google , can while others cant.
