Genealogy, why is it in Arts and Humanities?
genelaogy per se not science. but, many other disciplines, science involved, particulary genetic genealogy.
understanding of antrhopology helps in finding ancestors centuries ago, or understanding ancestors might have come (look "european" tribes example), but, again, not directly related.
genealogy abstract, subjective. of genealogy books have read, written world's foremost genealogists, when digging trees hundreds of years ago examined available records, including family bibles, type historica record, wills, etc., , conclude , son of such , such based upon dates of birth , names. customary germans in 1400s , 1500s name sons & daughters after godmother or godfather. these godparents aunts, uncles, or grandparents.
in trees, common person in 1 generation have name, succeeding generation different name, first name. or, germans, each generation having same name, variant: johann, johannes, hans, etc.
in other words, genealogy fit neatly "humanities"; can't more "humanity" histories of families.
isn't science? , related anthropology?
