came across open field
storm winds blew wouldn't yield
night sky came , held me down
tasted earth , felt ground
rifles wet ,
sent fight no reason why
foreign land foreign place
battle lines replaced
rising sun shadows haunt
distant sounds taunt
day face fate
within weeds i'll lay , wait
forever young i'll
if angry bullets decree
lonely quiet in field
cherished hope i'm not revealed
click heard foreign word
laughter loud absurd
couldn't run couldn't flee
